Make sure that you have the original board number and the service number in order to find the replacement Genie board for your garage door opener.
You can ask the retailer or shop for a compatibility chart when you’re unsure of the specific logic board that matches your garage door opener.
How to Replace your Genie Logic Board
Once you’ve had the right logic board, you might need to start installing it and replacing your old one. This can be done in 20 to 30 minutes by yourself without calling a professional installer.
• Unplug and open your motor.Make sure that you unplug the garage door opener first before you start. Then, take down your garage door opener by pulling the emergency cord and closing your garage door. Reach the garage door opener motor and remove the cover, LED light, and back panel cover. This gives you access to the circuit board.
• Disconnect wires and remove the board. Look inside the housing and find the wires that are connected to the circuit board. Disconnect the wires with your screwdriver and just let them dangle. Loosen the screws that are holding the board in place and remove the circuit board.
• Install the new circuit board and replace the pieces. Install the new circuit board in place and secure it with the screws. Reinstall the wires and lock them in place. Replace the rest of the pieces of the garage door opener and plug in your unit for testing.
